Welcome to my blog!

Words by Amy Fowler

This is the blog for Siren Digital, an internet marketing consultancy based in Reigate, Surrey. Siren Digital consists of, well, me really – Amy Fowler, an SEO practitioner, social media expert and general all-round digital marketing whizz. The name Siren Digital comes from another of my passions, DJing. Since the tender age of 19 I’ve been spinning tunes on my trusty Technics 1210s, and over the years I’ve frequented many a dark and dingy DJ booth around town. I’ve always DJed under the moniker of Siren and so luckily for me, the choice of company name was obvious – it had to be Siren Digital!

So what to expect from my blog? Well, it’s my chance to harp on about the internet and all the fantastic ways that you can use it to promote your business. There’s just so much potential out there on the web, and it’s not just for the big brands to take advantage of – there are so many opportunities for small and medium sized businesses to profit from the incredible speed, functionality and reach of internet marketing. The landscape of internet marketing tools, techniques and platforms is evolving day-by-day and there is now a wealth of low cost, efficient and easy-to-use tools available that can help you build buzz, gain intelligence and generate profits.

As a starter for ten, I would encourage you to sign up for one or more of the main social networking sites and have a go, if you haven’t already. First, you need to work out which is most appropriate for your business. If you are in a B2B sector such as professional services, try LinkedIn. If you sell products to a young, tech-savvy market, then Facebook might be the best way to start. Sign up your business, add your logo and imagery, and invite your friends, family, business contacts and past colleagues to your pages. Think of what content would please, excite and inform your target market and either create it yourself, or curate it from around the web. Join groups where your target markets meet and discuss. Sound out the competition and keep an eye on what they are doing online. There’s no time like the present and I’d really encourage you to start getting involved and making the most of what the internet has to offer.

Of course, there often aren’t enough hours in the day and that’s where you might start to think, ‘okay, I know this is important but I’m going to need an extra pair of hands’. If you do, please feel free to give me a call. I’m available during daylight hours on the contact details at the bottom of this page and I’ll be happy to help, no matter how large or small a job.

Good luck, and be sure to check back for daily blog posts on the latest trends and technologies in social media and search that help small businesses stand out and get heard. Thanks for reading!
